Note to Self - A Collection of Mental Notes

It happens to everyone. You are in the middle of something or an idea strikes you, or perhaps you do something and the consequences weren’t exactly what you had hoped for. No matter the exact reason, you find yourself uttering the words “Note to self…” or “Mental Note…” after realizing a fact that will be helpful for you to remember in the future.
After finding myselfy in one of these scenarios today, I was inspired to write a post documenting a collection of mental notes that I have had in the past. Hopefully some of the notes in this list ring true for you as well and if not, perhaps they will make you think in the future.
Note to Self…
- Don’t eat ice cream too fast…no matter how good it tastes.
- Oreo Mini Cakesters are really good.
- Never use GoDaddy and Wordpress together.
- DO NOT try working out on a full stomach. You WILL (or almost will) puke on yourself.
- It is a very bad idea to consume too many alcoholic beverages the night before traveling.
- Don’t drink an energy drink or Pepsi prior to attempting to go to bed. The desired results will not work out the way you plan.
- Cops do not like the “oh I thought that was just a suggestion” joke.
- Me + Sake + Tequila + Beer = Disaster
- It is always good to be in the habit of frequently saving documents you are working on, especially really important ones.
- Always pack floss in your purse/pocket. It comes in handy more than you would think.
- People from foreign countries (or anyone really) may not have the same sense of humor as you.
- Always get windshield wiper fluid that is resistant to freezing, especially if you live in St. Louis.
- Worry less about things that are out of your control and more about things that create a positive impact on yourself or others.
- When swinging on a rope swing in a bikini, do not hold on to the rope too tight with your legs. Rope burn is NOT fun.
- Garbage disposals do not like spoons, or any utensil for that matter.
- Handwritten thank you notes are ten times better than an email.
- Going ten thousand miles without an oil change isn’t as good for your car as you would think.
- The more beer I have, the better I get at bowling.
- People do not like cards stuffed with confetti.
- There is no better picnic sandwich than a “Mom’s Special” from Mom’s deli. (Have to be from STL to get that one.)
- “Reply” and “Reply All” are entirely too close for comfort.
I could probably go on and on with the various mental notes I have accumulated over the years. They range form serious to funny but either way there is an experience behind each and every note.
So….what are some of your mental notes?
